Brava, Sophie! Too true. I've left veritable ruts rehashing the past...so it knows too well how to find me.

I suppose a lot do this although I never have as I always have looked and moved forward no time for the past. Great write and something to reflect upon.

Wow, that's so profound, Soph. That is such the truth.
Very nice, and a great lesson.
Thanks Soph.

nowhere...
This is as beautiful as it is thought provoking, sophie_e!
Come to think of it, most of us prefer "safe" and tried places to uncertainties, not realising that we could often be miles ahead, if only we dared to forge new ground.
I have an old poem similarly titled, but with a play on "no where" versus "now here" (written as no W here). If I can find it, I will post it here. Thanks for the inspiration.

Walking in a familiar path... yea I can see how we all tend to do that often. Very enlightening brevity my dearest.

Yeah & we end up going nowhere.
A simple yet effective write in the way that it says so many things.

Something so well said in so few words is a rare gem. It reminds me of something that has become a favorite.

Strangely, I have an odd habit of stepping in the footprints of others in he snow, as if my feet will somehow get less wet. Then I wonder if there might have been a deeper reason why I did that.
That's what this made me think. Is there a deeper thought you are implying?
Sometimes a footprint is just a footprint...
A thought provoking poem blue eye!

Great and succinct writing, sophie... It is interesting that we choose to get stuck on repeat, retracing our family terrain. Well-said ❤️
