If Tomorrow Gone

Ice forms on dusty roads
taillights piercing brazen halls
old oaks bruised still standing strong
still borne hearts have cradled long

if tomorrow gone would there be care
remember at all, I was there
steady, a rock, in sharpnened breeze
fluidity crumbled with too much of ease

distant stars, hard time to believe
lunar thrust stopped so suddenly
stabbing stilettos lost without pain
walking out momentos, never again

droplets of liquor a mask for it all
purged in volition, iridescent light falls
