The Paczki Tradition

In the costume I felt much more like a freak
Thought, what did I sign up for, not my diction
Then they explained it as I gave them Paczkis
I finally got it, and gone was friction
Handed out donuts proud at the bakery
They showed me what history was all about
And then my gaiety came to fruition
I helped keep alive The Paczki Tradition!

Author's Note
Poem about a guy who works at a grocery store and partakes in a ritual done once a year for customers.  At first, he thinks it's lame, but then sees the principle behind it - everyone has to create some type of fun in their lives and make due with what they have, respective of their background or culture.  He also learns to appreciate history, family and tradition.
