The Great Sea

We�re all just looking for a simple escape
A way to get rid of the pain
Some way to flee this dreadful world
Yearning to be swept away by rain

We write these words, we make them rhyme
Our crying and our weeping of tears
We will always be bound though, you and I
We will come to learn this over the years

There�s no escape, there is no way
To get away from our demons, you see
We will forever own them and hone them
For they have led us to the great sea

The sea of darkness, the sea of emptiness
It�s the sea of eternal damnation
The tides are high, they�re coming for us
They�re waiting with such anticipation

You see, we�ve truly earned their nipping waves
The way the water laps at our feet
But you�ll come to know it�s gurgling depths
When you and the great sea finally meet

It�ll pull you under as it strips your soul
Pulling you into its darkened abyss
We must watch our backs, you and I
As these dark words slip over our lips
