Love in the dunes

We walked down the beach in the twilight
A rug and our basket in hand,
Walking right down to the far end
Where the wind piled dunes from the sand.

We found a sheltered hollow
Not yet taken by lovers like we.
We sat and drank wine from the bottle
As the moon rose out of the sea.

We lay and made love and then rested
Before having sex just once more,
Much like all the other young couples
In the dunes on that summer shore.

Some people climax in silence,
A few make like a Bronx cheer
But some of the sounds from around us
Were more than we wanted to hear.

An orgasmic shriek in the distance
Woke seagulls roosting nearby.
Alas, one couple were fighting
And the girl had started to cry.

We lay side by side, quite contented,
As peace flowed in like a tide
And slowly the moaning and grunting
Quietened down and died.

We will always remember those sand dunes,
So alive with sex, love and fun.
We hope there will always be hollows
For couples who just want to come.
