Intoxication

Intoxication
Slowly creeps in
Inhibitions slip away
Jars the mind
Loosens lips
Familiar smells of life
Coffee and perfume
A kind of infatuation
That stays with me
Long after the night has gone
Dull experience of isolation
Watering down social interaction
Switching off the noise
Staring into the void
Trying to get back control
Catching breath
Fire in the brain extinguishing
It’s not the alcohol that needs purged
More the world
Need the solitude again to survive

A night that even amongst people that know my autism I still feel awkward and the experience is draining
