No shadow’s reach in evening sun,
Just life as through a window screen.
Reflecting there, there is no one,
No breathings’ fog disturbs the scene.
My body long, its mind its own,
No shadows reach in evening sun.
My mind long since released its loan,
And passing days can’t be undone.
I trouble sum, seek its begun,
That moment when it stepped away.
No shadows reach in evening sun
To help me find its truant day.
So, I remain so long from home,
So distant still, so distant run.
The fire, the hills, me writing po’ms
