Pray
Jehovah God, Hearer of Prayer, please hear the prayer
Of a sinner who's repenting but who's been near despair
A sinner who's here to share
By your offer to clear the air so he can feel your care:
"Maybe I'm not a sinner, maybe I'm just weak
And powerless against this cowardice and it bugs me
That I'm as flesh-obsessed as predators, hunters, et cetera
I'm just ashamed that I'm not the man I must be
In the war of the law of my flesh versus the law of my mind
I've been on the wrong side for just about the longest time
Young, dumb and me, in the darkest plight
But always conscious of my conscience and the difference between wrong and right
I was just a problem child
That's why I'm praying for a change and that you view me different
A clean slate, a new page and for a new beginning
I pray for a new beginning
I pray for you to not give up on me
I'm not a lost cause, no doubt you must've seen
A couple of good qualities whenever you look underneath
The skin and every one of the single hairs that you've been numbering
I pray for the mental strength to overcome the law in my body
To guard against thoughts that are often ungodly
The kind of thoughts over which I would pro'bly be sorry
Mind over body, even if I'm possibly crawling
I pray for your spirit to help me keep the interest
In your Word, coz if I'm going to be better then that's my mirror
I pray with all my heart that you accept this prayer
And that my actions always show I won't ever forget this prayer
That's why I'm praying for a change and that you view me different

I'm sure many people feel this way, even if they'd never admit it. Thanks for sharing with us a vulnerable part of your persona. Not many people would be brave enough to do so.
