Full on addiction

Why must everything in the modern world revolve around money?  
"The almighty dollar"  
Ever since mankind  
created currency  
we've been acting funny..  
makes me wanna holler  
I'm sick of this shit.  

We became obsessed  
pretty much possessed  
by this paper..  
A full on addiction  
we haven't been clean in many years,  
we've shed tears  
over this paper  
Is this our "purpose"?  
Just making money  
to then consume consume consume  
and buy buy buy?  
why?  
 
Excessive drug use  
has nothing on the shopping addiction  
along with endless entertainment options  
we're hooked..  
Jubilant junkies  
full of joy  
looking for that next best shiny toy  
like a little boy  
in some store  
running up and down the aisles  
so ecstatic  
so eager to get his hands on  
that new piece of plastic..  
We need an intervention  
or a suspension from this maddening moolah  
we've ruined and manipulated.  
 
We let it  
 Turn us into..  
Monsters...
