L'Honnêteté Brutale Echoue à Chaque Fois

 
How much use is an honest critique
people request it hot thinking of the consequences
The say Honesty is the best policy
those that say that are usually arrogant
Narcissists: Everything is always about them
they will throw you under the bus willy-nilly
without a single thought about finer feelings
Like a lamb to the lion's den, you bravely go
you will be torn apart and wholly devoured
these kind of critiques are not worth a dime
as you crumple into a ball reading their filth
you can never be any good, not in their eyes
they love poetry, but sadly only their own
any other poets are just like cannon fodder
dejected, discouraged, sad and lonely
the bravely submitted poem all but trashed
fit for bin you made moist with tears
your poems are like your children
you certainly wouldn't send them
to people that would certainly abuse them
brutal honesty is brutal
the hurt that hurts
strangling inspiration
poems murdered
poets tortured
some even stop writing

Honesty is no good unless
its tempered with empathy
includes kindness and love
requires real understanding
it needs the sacrifice of ego
it gives encouragement
It identifies the positive
is tempered with praise first
an honest critique is all these things
and more besides

Anything else is just hot air
it's clown shoes:
seek positive critique
there is no room
for anything else
the destroyers of poetry
the egotistical maniacs
the killers of Poets
the poetic Narcissists
do far more harm than good
a plague on all their houses
