The Virgin Lake

9th February Adrenalin Quarry 2°c 200m 5 swimmers, 2 watchers.

In the Quarry we descend,
sending our gut instincts to a drier corner,
immersing in crisp, snowed upon water
where the wind does not affect
the top and the icy truth licks about our bones.
I do not wait, cannot wait, the water lulls me under, and my heart does slow as if muscle memory and my breathing is steady, keen for challenge.

Seen from the inside others join too, and take their breaths, and first strides, Mother Duck creating her legacy.
In this there is a purity, a commitment and trust of friends, a positive healthy cyclone beginning in our being. An adrenaline rush as promised,
as inch by inch the water kisses, probes, stabs.
They are ready, to be outsiders, to dry and share our bread that finishes off the day with a new perspective and a enclosed joy.
Ah, this joy, a team of Elemental warriors.
Ah, this bliss and our attachment to this Earth.
