Excursions

The dread of civility
haunts these social constructs
long-winded conversations
-the array of mediocre topics;
a bland cocktail
of acquisitions,
wise investments
- gluttons of wealth;
the egos of men.

I'd rather lend my ear
to the inventive positions
employed by the companions;
they are not trophies
distatefully inferred
but that quick splash of relief
when such functions occur.
