Set Free

(a villanelle)
Set free from hard night’s rise’ coerce
In shouts and cries, in wails’ delight.
Set free with lips that claim our verse.

How deep the way that strains reverse,
Once altered, seeks, pursues its sight,
Set free from hard night’s rise’ coerce.

In shape and form, with tongues diverse,
That bring our bear, our weight to light,
Set free with lips that claim our verse.

In dripping words turn sweet inverse,
That both our opened songs incite,
Set free from hard night’s rise’ coerce.

Where glyphs of potent storms disperse,
Here waves our hungers’ fraught invite,
Set free with lips that claim our verse.

Deep drafts consumed at waves’ immerse
In thrums’ and groans’ combine, unite:
Set free from hard night’s rise’ coerce,
Set free with lips that claim our verse.
