How Do I Forget
“I just want you to be happy!”
I meant those words though they burned from the soul… though i choke on my heart; breath caught in my throat.
I could fight the pain
unempty this bed,
clear the bitterness from my head,
but I can not forget the way you touched my heart without touching my skin.
How am I supposed to pick up the fragile shards that remain and turn away from you, be alone and empty with myself again?
“I’ll always have your back!”
.
I am pouring in the tears of a lost galaxy, endlessly bound to the past and in this moment I am thankful you can’t see the light in my eyes go out. I hide this one thing away from you… that I gave up the world to give you the moon.
I never thought you'd be everything to me… I never imagined that I'd have to hand you off to someone...anyone….
The ache in my chest I'd take it a million times, just to see you smile…
I can not pretend that I love you any less, this ghostly heart cries out for you,
How do I forget?
