WHAT POETRY HAS TAUGHT ME

 
There is this passion I have
It’s called poetry
It has taught me several things
Like how to write a simile
 
Some exposes secrets
While some is real bright
Then there are others
Describing the moonlight
 
I’ve also learned common themes
Like everything is not what it seems
Once you get past the gore
Look for the extended metaphor
 
I learned that poetry is a passion
A want, a need, a desire
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea
But it is something I have learned to admire
