Color Me

I won't deny that my heart is an aviary to hurt, rejection, fear and pain. I will wholeheartedly agree that my soul is very intricate, delicate and easily wounded. It's a fact that my mind is complex and so often, deeply perplexed. Dip your paintbrush in some varying shades of anger and resentment. Paint me with the colors of every existent shortcoming; one by one, I'll gladly own my vulnerabilities.

I'm proud to be painted as I am, although you seem to paint me as broken and weak.   I suggest the shade closest to "beautifully broken" - minus the weak, which needs to stay on the shelf. You fail to realize that you've only seen a couple pages of my book while reading a rough chapter at that. One in which everyone is susceptible to, I've seen a few of your dogflapped pages labeled, "difficult" too.  We all have them, that doesn't make it a summary for the entirety of our book of life though. So, please choose the perfect shades of strength, resilience and courage that you can't seem to see at this moment. I possess them all and plentifully so.

Find those which represent my infectious laughter, pride and self love; I'm compiled in an abundance of self recognized value.
Do remember to splash the colors of my marrow; compassion, loyalty, kindness -especially loving to a fault and without measure.

I absolutely won't let you paint me as a villain and a victim; shades of contradiction do not exist. Nor am I either; just a realist with a momentarily hurting heart. My coat of convictions can't only begin and end with me, it's unjust for one person to completely be cloaked in blame.

Cut me open and the color of love is all you will see bleed. So , now dip into the hurt, pain and the emptiness I've been served and just simply color me in your closure.
