Night (My City)

Night mysteries,
Seedy alleyways, and moral abnormalities.
Injustices committed under the cover of dark.
Made known by neon lights, the shadows dark.
Hush and listen, hark!
The heartbeat of my city,
It calls out to me.
My footsteps step, step, step in time,
To the city's rhythm sublime.
Though dangerous, it's mystery brings me comfort.
Alone in the city's night, I cavort,
I need nor seek no escort, or consort,
I have my own transport,
And my own cohort.
I am taken first and foremost by my city,
And by the love of my life, sweet and pretty.
Dancing my heart away,
Down the roadway,
In the luminous, multi-hue, glow,
In the puddles shallow,
My heart doth overflow.
