Quietly  
all at once
You walked  
into my life
with me
like You’d been
here
all along
not as a stranger
as my friend  
who could sense
when something
is wrong.
You understood  
my fears
uncertainty
vanished
when You
arrived. . .here.
 
my heart can see
who is loving
me;
elated I am when
You speak my
name;
I feel a stir within
my spirit
agog from a past
vein now thinking ----
will our paths be
the same?
 
I couldn’t bear for
You to leave me
I wanted  You to stay
spend the evening,
if just for a wee wile.
& then before You went away
You stood and hugged me
like a child  
everything will work out fine
then I felt there was
something I  
recognized. . .
 
And from that moment in time
I felt my emptiness
subside
all the wonder of love
shining through
 
for the first time in
our life
I truly looked
saw in Your eyes
 
I saw eternity
 
& suddenly
I knew.
