The Wee Bird

The Wee Bird

There is a wee bird in a cage
Itís been there aí its days,
Long ago it lost its voice
It wisnae the wee birdies choice,
From its prison it sees the sky
And the wee bird dreams one day to fly,
Now I know why the wee bird cries
Trapped in its cage until it dies,
Break the chains and smash the locks
Free your heart from its cruel box
And let it soar above the clouds
And let it sing its song out loud
I wonder what itís like to fly
And feel the world go racing by,
Iíve seen the others roll and tumble
But here I sit crushed and humble,
Fight with every bloody sinew
See beyond the bars that hold you
Every bird must stretch its wings
Liberty makes all men kings
Break the chains and smash the locks
Free your heart from its cruel box
And let it soar above the clouds
And let it sing its song out loudÖ
