Image for the poem change this

change this

Shake off these chains of circumstance
Flush out the pains of experience
Close the door to all that junk
you used to do and believe
It did not work then and will not work now

Enough of the scriptural excuses
its been all power and money in the world
for a long long time

Too much time wasted
on what is around and what might be
what season we are in
and when he will come

I have worn clothes that were worn out
when I got them
really is well past the sell by date
for old ways

Years have slipped through my fingers
Loves have come and gone
take the photograph
and move on

Lets get a packed lunch
and watch it multiply
Lets turn some water into wine

There will aways be a reason not too
some pride giving itself space
but it only serves up grief
gives you nothing but an addiction
attacking every hope you dream

The land I have been used to
under the table
is not what I saw
when I looked across
the myth of time

I do not believe in any power
that rules by lies and fear
I have to stand in the river of grace
and let the shooting stars pour
from my lips

You are a canvas that needs new paint
a heart that craves a love that soars

The waiting is in the annals of expediency
process and testing of religion
a convenient way to keep us content
when deep down we are not

Change this landscape of almosts
into money in my hand
Change these promises of love
into the bride in my arms
Change these lies I have sweated from
into the white sandy beaches I need
Change the ring on my hand
into a signet ring
