Image for the poem melancholia

melancholia

in my aching hours you turn away
it was too much to bear
I wrapped myself in melancholy
I wore my blues. a faded flower
plucked from our days of love

I pressed it in my heart
a memorial of what once was
before your soul chased the sun
getting drunk off his love

I collect all the pieces of you
still within my touch
bittersweet treasures
because they cost you so much
of who you are and who you would be
if I didn't need you so badly

you are a soldier at his post
when it comes to loving me
standing guard protectively
I want so badly to tell you
at ease
take your leave

my warrior over the heart
you love me
I love you
but is that enough?

you deny your needs
in my aching hours I turn away
you chased the sun one day
and melancholy came to stay
forever entwined with my heart
