My Lullaby
With eyes leaking out feelings.
Little girl, rest your head upon
that bent up knee you've drawn
into your chest.
And ease your mind
with that gentle way
your body soothes you
with a little sway.
And close your thoughts to all but
those tiny sobs and broken words.
Words that you repeat because
you wish them to be heard.
But remember as you do this
that it's always okay to cry.
Just let them fall
because, after all,
this is your lullaby.
Little girl, rest your head upon
that bent up knee you've drawn
into your chest.
And ease your mind
with that gentle way
your body soothes you
with a little sway.
And close your thoughts to all but
those tiny sobs and broken words.
Words that you repeat because
you wish them to be heard.
But remember as you do this
that it's always okay to cry.
Just let them fall
because, after all,
this is your lullaby.
