Alone (in a busy place)

Surrounded by hustle and bustle
I look about for a certain someone
although I know you're not here
Champagne corks popping
party goers in good cheer
Glasses clink, couples clinch
as they greet another year
Volume rising; a happy din
Meanwhile I blink back a tear
of disappointment you're not able
to celebrate our wonderful year
together, at my side, at this table
my constant companion I revere
our relationship without a 'label'
so warm and loving; that is clear
I feel alone amidst this rabble
unable to raise a glass and cheer
in the New Year without a cuddle
from the one I hold so dear.
