Milling

.
People milled past;
Excited children being extra
good,
Mothers with minds a'swirl
with thoughts on Brussel sprouts,
aunt bessie's potato roasts, that
she'll pass off as her own

People milled past;
Menfolk with their last minute
gift idea's;
Though the idea as yet not switched
on, they'd be sure to be that last
minute shop window eureka moment

People milled past;
Laden down with pre-apocalyptic
food bags;
The incessant noise of Christmas
"Joy to world" on musical repeat
from a nearby shop.

People milled past;
The quick glances, the "tut"
of how dare they
avoided eye contact, those that
gave "oh dear what a
time to be homeless" as if they
weren't even there, before
scurrying away, incase it might
be contagious, their children
asking, why are they sitting on
the ground mummy"?

Author's Note
There's a life story behind every homeless person
They don't just appear for Christmas to make us feel good about our own little lives
Don't ignore
A coffee, some mince pies even a sandwich goes a long way
One day you might be watching people milling past..
