Image for the poem we playing Cinderella

we playing Cinderella

We playing Cinderella.
It's leaping frogs in umbrellas.
Fairies in shiny feathers.
Ginger bread man dancing in the sand.
SpongeBob in his square pants,
But when the director yells cut, it's over.
Edit's and makeup hide the real scars.
We all have done our parts.
Real life isn't broken in cuts.
We're all subconsciously playing other roles.
Trying to perfect the art of running from who we are.
So we placed a god in the clouds.
Hoping he will be our way out.
Because in ourselves we harbor fear and doubt.
That's just who we are.
So we placed the devil deep in hell.
Someone to take all the blame for our crime.
But we are not fooling anyone are we this time?
Our worst nightmare is being ourselves,
Taking responsibility and paying the price.
That's why we paint our faces,
To camouflage from reality.
We are all actors and actresses,
In our world of pretense.
Aren't we better off living someone else life?
It seems life is really easy when we living a lie.
