'Who Needs A Top, Anyway ....?'

'I do!', I say, 'BAD!'
It's easy for her to say
With her, no one laughs
But I'm not so fortunate
When I visit this nude beach.

I'd like to be free
Like she is, in the picture
But I know I can't
Lay naked on sand, like her
She's beautiful, I am shit.

I see them naked
And partying on the beach
I can only wish
But know it can never be
They would just laugh at my frame.

I want to join them.
But they would find me grotesque
I have to wear clothes
Even when thirty degrees
Prison of sweater summer.

The photo popped up
Blend of self-loathing and lust
Came over my being
When I read the pic caption ....
'Who needs a top, anyway?!' 💔😭

Author's Note
Tanka style poem about my experience seeing a photo pop up in the home feed from one of my Facebook friends. She was visiting a topless beach.  FML.  Body image confessional peppered with erotic undertones ....
