your feet upon the moon
Virgen María
winged angels carry thee
coal belt revealing
virginity and pregnancy

thy crown of stars
and downcast gaze
with hands intertwined
teach us your ways
glorified patroness
of bronzed flesh
who spoke the tongue of natives
a mother’s love you give

sought roses in winter
emblazoned on tilma
thy Aztec allure
queen of mestizos
who chose Juan Diego
thy grace bestowed
so the world may know
corona de las estrellas
the woman of revelation
born without flaws
mother of Mexican nation
in December on the twelfth day
with a procession of trumpets
we give homage to thee

You are kind, but it's rusty. I find poetry is not like riding a bike ... you take a break and your ability is half of what it was. Winter writer's block. :-) Hope you are having a nice holiday season

While I see a few places where adjustments could be made ( I'm digesting ), it's still excellent poetry.

The musicality masks the use of dated phrases ensuring it doesn't detract from your poem the way those phrase often do. They usually ring of pretension and a false sense of sophistication, you've blended them well in this piece, I concur with Ahavati
And yes it is like riding a bike it takes time to build up your stamina on a bike, you can still ride but doubtfully as far or for as long as when you were a child 😁
I don't see the rust you are ascribing though.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, I find a lot of the images are cliche as you noted (musicality or no, it is, as you correctly termed, "dated". It was an attempt at a very striking image that many know of either spiritually or artistically. It's big shoes to fill, haha.
