An Amber Moment
Her neon lipstick smile
Puts me in a purple haze
With her wink a goodbye wave
Along with her headphone obsession
Whose music she dances to in riddles
With eyes closed like a book
On the final chapter of our escapade
Whose butterfly eyelashes flutter her farewell
In the luxury of a moment preserved in amber

Oh, how I've missed you my darling LilDragonFly. This poem was inspired by a young woman I fell in love with while in the psych hospital. When she was discharged I pined for her day and night.

Although a breif tale, This one instantly captured me.. the sorrowful feelings of dread & heartache that are caught up in those last moments leading up to the departure. I guess more so because I've experienced it, as I've mentioned, in rehab after my injury. Even though the communication has to be short these days, just not to hurt, those details & pet names come up at times. Of course, it sadly ends in awkward silence. A convo a couple weeks led to his last statement
"I hope we're together in the next life if such a thing exist"...our texting ended then...he doesn't handle it as well as I do as the years pass, me thinks. He's lonely but such an awesome catch so it KILLS me.
Alright, I'm babbling now. lol. I just wanted to show how I identify with it.. it just pulled at those sensitive heart strings. *sigh*.... it all sticks with you, doesn't it? Every detail & non of it is overly romanticized..it's REAL ... from the heart & soul...never to be forgotten even if a bit easier. Xo

Pandy, she and I parted ways over thirty-five years ago. Yet I remember her like yesterday. I write about that place and the people with the freshness of a recent event though I never heard from her again. Your rehab experience sounds exactly like what I went through. The administrator of our hospital compared our partings as like "death." The rules stated we were never to have contact again, though such a rule can hardly be enforced. In fact, I ran into her boyfriend aftward and we were to reunite, me, him, and she but nothing came of it. I've moved on been married and lost people to passing. But the emotions have stayed with me all these decades. She made that place bearable and breathed life into my waning soul. I remember her as an eighteen-year-old woman in the spring of youth. This is how I'll always remember her though she is likely in her fifties now. What I wouldn't give to just chat with her again. Thank you, Pandy for sharing with me our commonality of experience. It means so much to share with you someone I have much in common with. You are an angel of compassion. I admire your ability to set boundaries with your rehab friends of old now that it is clear the relationships won't go anywhere. That saves you much heartache and shows the strength of your spirit.
