Snow Globe

in the bitter cold of winter
she was held frozen
behind a curtain of ice
her skin porcelain
a pinch of blush on pale skin,
her long white hair coiled in braids
falling gracefully

eyes of icy blue
gazed out into all
that is white
icicles hang like daggers
glowing in pale light
sun barred behind dense grey clouds
not letting in a shred of warmth

this has been her life
for as long as she can remember
she sits on her icy throne
gazing in wonder at the
surrounding whiteness,
dreamy in the spell of cold

she is adorned in white furs
that bring not a sense of warmth
to her cool flesh
deep snowflakes mound around her
below her station
trees glazed in ice bend slightly
under the weight

a small face suddenly looms
outside her world
this child is smiling with wonder
gazing at the beautifulness of the
Snow Queens World
her small hands gather
up the globe for a closer look

the Snow Queen is taken by surprise
gazing back into deep brown eyes
of wonder
a smile escapes her frosty lips
a warmth transcends through
clear glass, the child turns her world
upside down and back,
and she is surrounded by
falling snow

the beauty of her small
kingdom, brought to life
again, and again
melting her heart
