A Dying Dog - moaned for Death ( for Cooper/after Emily Dickinson )
A Dying Dog moaned for Death
Despite how hard I begged
I pleaded with the Universe
Until my knuckles bled
His Loyalty waned not once
Though body clearly did
His Spirit steadfast in its goal
Returned from whence it came
'Twas not my lack of Belief that failed
'Twas not His Will to Live
But Both in selfless Love released
The Other from their Grief
In Memory of my Beloved Cooper
