Barbeau sat in the make up chair
Received "wounds" on her gorgeous face
Consented to an interview
And smiled through the applied gore
She spoke of the "demon nuns"
Costumed for that evening's shoot
Grinned about her hero's role
Blasting them right off their feet
Then she was called back to the set
And given a blank-loaded gun
She mowed down the devil's spawn
Shell cases bouncing off the walls
She hadn't much more left to say
"The Convent" almost in the can
A B horror film, barely released
A far cry from the film crew's plan.

Suggested by a piece I wrote for Fangoria Magazine, an article on the filming of "The Convent." This turned out to be a cheap horror film, instantly forgettable aside from its beautiful star, Adrienne Barbeau.

Thank you J. I was always on the sidelines with my pen and recorder. The producers had nothing to fear from me, as long as I gave fair treatment, in writing, to the cast and crew. Still, the producers relished the coverage in Fangoria, quite a showcase to attract the horror fan readership to the box office, or pick up the DVD if the picture wasn't good enough for the expense, and risk, of a wide theatrical release. That turned out to be the case with "The Convent," which went straight to tape, DVD and a few overseas markets. It was basically a bomb. Thanks again!

You should be able to find it somewhere on DVD or cable. I get the feeling this is one Ms. Barbeau would prefer to forget. Still, she is a star, and probably still an unconventional beauty. Thank you JusTim!

My experience on film sets was largely with visits to the making of items like "King Cobra." So glad you enjoyed this Brenda!
