Online Dating

A colleague (NY) called me up about
The prognosis for online dating
Ushering in a new era
“I don’t know how they’re doing it now”
My response was “I don’t think they are”
For one, life is more constrained than it’s ever been
For the general working class,
So being in survival mode
Leaves little room for anything else-
You stop being quite so optional after your 20’s
A few of the profiles are practically
Begging for correspondence on any level,
Several have been straight up abandoned
Yet some lurk in solitude
Lolling phantom pain
Intellectual banter; haunted
Over some missing limb
That isn’t there;
That they/we/same sex loving women
 Just don’t do anymore;
Even my other friend (West Coast) shared these sentiments
On the phone 2 nights ago:
“It’s the same shit, everywhere”
Well yea babe-can’t make this world
be what we want it to be
Can't make women
be who we want them to be.

(Not my graphic but...)
