Afghan Woman

Afghan Woman

She loves men in spite of their atrocities
Which her sisters cannot forgive
She seeks the gentleman soldier
Who is as handy with a bouquet of roses
as he is with a gun
But the bleeding red flower
Is rare in the hands of men
For rifles must be kept handy
When combat involves bullets not words
With battlefields filling in for graveyards
When burial plots are a dusty ditch beside the road
