Charity Starters
Charity starts at home don't we say?
Be kind to your kith and kin come what may.
A family's not only your safe haven
Tis pals your very own roots
Water these shoots with love devoid of hate
So they bear you sweeter fruits.
Maybe you'd say that's not so easy
but perhaps that's coz you just too busy
Or your clock just don't chime
for quality family time?
For if you can't make time for a letter or a hug
Then let my poem give your conscience a gentle tug.
And if this may sound like a very preachy homily
Deserves much more mention and affection the family
If you can make time for so many other things
some of them not even worthwhile
Try discover the happiness family brings
Just a tad modify that routine lifestyle.
My words in crystal clear clarity
sing compassion is likewise a charity
Charity need not be for strangers only
Find out who needs help in kindred and family
Ties of kinship severe not
Value the relations you've got
Your siblings, cousins from your family tree
and all else that you call family.
What supports and buttresses your family tree are your very roots
And what keeps the tree living on are your beloved offshoots
Love and regard is required to reap the sweeter fruits

A conscience pricking poem. Yes, we should find more time for family instead of obsessing what is on our gadgets. Maybe use our gadgets to talk to family? This is a good poem leading up to Christmas & a reference or reminder to us for all seasons.

Nice subject matter, and plea for more focus on the loved ones we are connected to from the start.

Yeah relatives and kindred are important, we shouldn't ignore them even if we may not live near them. Ties of kinship should be bonded with helpful ways before we look to helping strangers and outsiders, warm thanks for getting the gist.

Growing up I've always longed for a nuclear family You describe here.
I've seen families who had this and I envied them.
It ain't easy being half a race that the pure bloods on each side of the family tree
are borderline racist against.
Felt like a wonderful inspirational write, though.
well done

Re. Charity Starters
Very good.
Appreciate the sentiment. Family-life, insofar as a tangible proximity to my beloveds, has been a thing of the past.
It became a much deeper issue of 'past' since the devastation of my daughter's death this past 4th of July at age 31. Nearly every poom i've written between july fourth and october have been about her death, )since oct i have been able to write a bit more outside of that crushing obsession). Have had many serious health issues (my cardiac adventures #s 1 in '99-'00 & then a completely different set of death-defying cardio stuff in 2015. The problem with all my heart problems is that they are nearly all asymptomatic (even numerous heart attacks), which has brought rise to "under-diagnosis", "under-treatment" having nearly killed me 6 times this century. Now, with my dear one gone forever, I pray that my days of "miracle survival(s)" is OVER. The pain/grief & psychic devastation of outliving one's child are too soul wrenching, (especially with trying to mend a seriously broken heart), when we all know we have to die AnyWay.
Thanks........certainly more than you "need to know", but tis hard to stop the flow once it starts.

Where would we be without family. Yes even the ones that challenge us (challenge not abuse). I do not know why but I think if you could do this in a spoken word it might be quite beautiful. Sorry do not mean to jam you up, it is just a thought of mine

Ok maybe I would try it but my hubby is very possessive and says even the female voice is attractive so he won't let me. But thanks for the idea.
