Desperately seeking Asylum
All those dirty, weary, downtrodden migrants
pouring across the channel
in whatever boat they can find
fleeing Gods know what
each with a story to tell
though not all will make it
and even those who do
may never be the same again
as it was no picnic over there,
in Dunkirk.

Inspired by https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/poems/328292-just-listen-to-yourselves/ by dartford. Barely a 100 years ago, Britain would be thankful for anyone who made it over the Channel, how times have changed.....

Once Brexit fever hits its full peak, it’s only going to get worse. Soon the outsiders will connect the word England with xenophobia, and I don’t really like that - I voted remain.

And to think barely two centuries ago the English were all across the globe gobbling up art and culture of other nations and all too happy to use them in the empire.
I was actually on holiday in Spain when the vote passed; and its not even a tyranny of the majority or minority as it was so laughably close.

I barely keep up with the news to get affected by it; my inbox is still only now getting to reports that the Roman Empire has fallen. Always a bittersweet thing to look back into the past and see in times of great injustice and inhumanity that the light of goodness still shone a bit.
