You Chose Home

Can I listen to your heart?
I want music, such as thou art.
Down, down came the rain
You never knew
This pleasure or pain.

Demons alone I’ve exercised.
My own soul I have despised.
I curled into myself and I cried,
As the sun waned and died.

Can I listen to your heart again;
To all that will be and has been?
I pray the walk back takes us all day
So you cannot wither away;
Or tell me goodbye.
I will not cry.
Look into my eyes.

You chose home.
I thought it was with me.
Apart together we are alone
One in the desert, one in the sea.

Can I hear your heartbeat again?
Departed shadows become the rain
You chose home. I’m with you
You chose home. Our garden grew
Now lives without the sunlight
All is clouded out of sight.

Sorrow I have known before,
Never this without your kiss.
Look inside my eyes.
