Life in a Cube

Life in a Cube

My life in a cube at the YMCA
holds me tight like a lover in the night.
My skid row angel’s dusky ghost
haunts the dusty corners of my room
while she laughs at puns on my poetry.
with a cigarette larynx like girls get
when nicotine gives her the junkie jitters
as she leaps like a frog in need of a fly
but her tongue snags a button off my shirt
Then she blows smoke ring kisses
and vanishes into a dust mote cloud.
