RACIST

It is not enough
To say that you aren't
Even if you mean it
Even if you are sure

Look for the ways
In which you are
And dedicate yourself
To undoing those bindings

Finding them may be hard
But they are there
In more places
Than you think

Their sinuous fibers
So tightly wound
They might as well be
Metal shackles

And that is why
You are doing this:
Because at one time they were
And you have to remember
