November sun
Sharp clinical November sun
bright cold Sunday stillness
nature waiting,
grey distant clouds,
a cat in black and white
stalking between the trees
as birds and rat hide.
A pigeon nest precarious on
a branch, empty now,
the year complete; another year
in times ceaseless procession .
Crab trees empty, their fruit consumed
by impatient blackbird and pigeons.
Winter here again,worms digging deep
butterflies sleeping, the anniversary clock
spins slow circles its
brass orbs aim golden sparks
upon the ceiling ,sharing golden rays
of a noonday sun beyond the window panes.
Copeland's,Appellation Spring,
welcome noise as winter,
stealthy as a cat in black and white.
plays across bar-lines, a rhythm of life
beating, pulsating a future of
dreams and escalations.
soundless black and white,
silent as a cat; still, as watching rat.
Now the moon freezes all,
frost comes to close the day
above, the moon's cold stare,
a cat in black and white, a
clock ticking through the night.
