Will You Be...

Will you be the seabird’s call;
The mists around the daylight moon?
Will the breath of all your slumbers
Still be the voice of the tide?

The sun is eclipsed every day…
I am bathing in the shadows.
Early Sunday, I waited with flowers;
All had wilted, all had wilted.
But will you be the salt sea breeze
In the forests near the sands?
When you see the same gold rim,
Will you wonder if I see it with you?
Will it be as though we hold hands again,
Though our eyes fill with missing years?

I dreamed the snow reaching us now:
The winter of our tides.
In the desert stands a weeping willow.
So alone below so many suns.
Wilting as the bones that surround
This earth where spring walked
In your eyes as far as I could see.

Will you be the scent of the storm,
Kissing the green wrapped ‘round roses?
The a nightingale’s song upon the wing?
Will you see feathers on the breeze
And hope I knew them on the dove?
Will you always be an angel
Whose silver sends me to sleep?
