Image for the poem summer

summer's kiss

the lilting sun sang of summertime
when in full array
the flowers in tune
did dance for their God

now sleepy in the garden
his warming rays too far away to wake them
they one by one closed their petals
and prepare for winter's Odyssey

as frost took over the land
all nature protested the end to summer's gayety
alas with a kiss and a promise
the sun sank behind the horizon
to rise again the following season
