Acid Test

I took the latest LSD
Hoping for some enlightenment
It traveled to my startled mind
With all my senses turning sharp

The walls began to slowly move
Then undulated like some waves
Colors were turning sharp and bright
Dilated pupils caught it all

Then friends faces drooped, began to melt
Their smiles slicing sinister
I knew then I could hardly cope
And wondered if this led to death

I felt damned lucky to survive
Just burned out with the rising sun
And that high was the acid test
The one that I could never pass.
