Choice

This membrane does not always hold
The demons crouched within
It could be I'm getting old
And now paying for my sin

But she provokes me in the street
And challenges me to fight
Another neighbor, far from sweet
But I dismiss her spite

I'm not one to shatter face
Despite being provoked
I attempt to maintain grace
And not leave asphalt blood-soaked

I might be the one who bleeds
Or she in a spreading pool
I might have demonic needs
But I won't be a fool

Better to observe silence
Ignore the squalling voice
Can't release my own violence
I always have a choice.
