Love Letter

I wrote a love letter yesterday
To tell you its our special day
the day I met you eons ago today
couldn't say it, wrote this letter instead

I wept as I thought of you
Filled with the essence of you
When I stood under the Ash tree
that held the Earth and  Sky together

Towards the horizon my eyes roamed
Looking for a shade of familiarity
In a world shrouded in gloom
Nothing, no one was with me

In that land of waking dreams
For the longest time, I thought of you
in half remembered whispers
Your many I love you's

I wanted to plead with the Valkyre
that spirited you away
to take me to the halls of Valhalla
and touch you if only for a day

Show me the stairways to heaven
That I could take your place
for a while, while you live again
To hold me in your embrace

I wept but could you hear me?
No. But someday you would smile at me
watching me; leaning at the door
and I would just get up and go
