Hopes, dreams, fears...
All contained within this mind
Not on any steady course
Leaving common sense behind
 
The hopes are really just for peace
A respite for this fractured soul
They are realized or dashed
Forget the notion of control
 
The dreams contain fragility
One breath and they come apart
Or they drift beyond the reach
Some distance from a frozen heart
 
The fears are shadows on the wall
Projections that have come and gone
Their lack of substance a godsend
Dissipation with the coming dawn.
