STILL WAITING FOR SOMETHING

STILL WAITING FOR SOMETHING
An old man by the street, weak and forlorn.
He has nothing to do; he looks and yearns
to find a little sense of what he does:
he leaves the garden bench where nights are spent,
and goes to that street side to spend his days.

He is too old to do the work he did
ere years could carry him to his old sge.
He looks at faces as by chance he sees
a face that he might know and might give ease
or could remind him of his dear, past years.

Where are the glorious days he has dreamed of?
They have postponed their advent day by day.
His eyes have got so dim; his strength has dropped,
but he's still waiting for those days to come
to lift his heart and find good sense to life.
