Unexpected Ecstasies
Your friends called you a canyon fire,
Whispering loud so I could hear;
Your eyes downcast
Like a woman with a past
And a too-red smile of wear and fear.
I saw your desire.
Light and shadow, shadow and light
Playing our naked bodies for night
Unending,
Rending,
Transcending,
Upending.
Stretching like sweet cool mist
Across your canyon;
Kissed
The embers of tomorrow.
