Melanin Muse

Dear black girl, please know the essence of your worth.
Know that our black skin is as rich and smooth as the soils of this earth.
Know that our ancestries are filled with kings and queens.
Know that you are bestowed upon a gold crown that shines so bright that no amount of darkness can come in between.
Know that we are the ones who represents strength and true embodiment of a warrior.

We cannot bleach out our skin to delete the chocolate shade that we should deem as royalty.
Why must we hide our nappy locs with someone else's hair, that ain't au naturale.
Why do we have to be judged by being team light skin and team dark skin.
No matter the shade we are all black and we all face the same struggles believe it or not.
Being any less dark or light should not determine the beauty we have from deep within.
Why do we have to deal with men trying to over sexualize us and call us bitches.
I swear we are all nubian queens and we shall be treated as such deities.

We are the creme dela creme,
The cream of the crop.
The diamonds in the rough.
The sun that continues to shine no matter how dark the days may become.
We are the fierce ladies who are the epitome of overcoming the toughest of battles and coming on top.

With that being said dear black girl if you are reading this know that God used his paint brush to mold us into the beauty and wonder of his eye.
Know that the world is your oyster and you are that shiny pearl who has the power to change the world one step at a time.
Know that it is okay to not look like others for our skin is unique.
Just know that we are in a class of our own that no one can compare to.

                                         Love always,
Another fellow black girl who lives to dwell in her self worth and title as queen
