The first serenade
down the river with the soft murmur
of icy cold water providing concerti
as the heat rose and down traveled the skin
a tingling shiver

The first touch
in the mangrove-colossal Sal trunks
standing tall-bestowing the reliving shade
as an ideal-wordless audience and along the flowers
fresh-deciduous blossomed love

The first love making
in the bamboo jungle-furtive-wild-rushed
on a bed of fallen flowers with the tall green arrows
kissing the sky from the open quiver and the playfulness
between ageless inertia & momentary struggle

The first parting
on that hot summer moonlight night
with boughs of latticed tamarind swaying in disapproval
as the retinue walked down the dusty village road
a loud splash in the jetty ended a story of plight.
