Advice To The Military-Minded
Rather than invent an enemy
and start a war
why don’t you have an enema
and get the shit out of your system?
Then, as a result of your release
the rest of us can live in peace –
and experience
much better phenomena.

Author's Note
In three weeks (on Sunday 11th November 2018) it is the centenary of Armistice Day (end of World War 1). I've started a competition for "Anti-War" poems.

Absotively posilutely... I agree with what you say...
and those who start the fracas should be...
the ones to end it, right away... Ely

Most wars are for crass geopolitical and commercial gain - and never mind the trashed lives and infrastructure and refugee crises and ... and ... I gotta say it comes from a certain mindset. Expect more anti-war poems in the lead-up to 11/11/2018.

Bravo! What's worse is that those who start the wars make sure their own sons aren't fighting in them. 😞

Not unlike the Puritans and their philosophy... that we are all put here to suffer... and our reward...if we're really really good little Puritans... will be doled out to us in Heaven...
Now that's a con if I ever saw one... Ely

"Now that's a con if I ever saw one" ... you're not kiddin'. I despair when I see the power (especially in this catholic zone) that religion still has over the people.
You might like to check out a poem of mine from May 2017, the Pope's visit to Fátima in Portugal last year.

I would like to see our fierce leader face the enema. He's a dangerous man to have his finger near the nuke button. Love this short poem, very powerful indeed!

Thanks Crowfly - I had this short splurge of anger some years ago and the poem popped out awaiting an opportune time - like now. And like you say, with a crazy guy (actually several crazy guys in several countries) with their fingers on some sort of button, it's a scary time. Thanks for the RL too.

Lordy... I remember bomb shelters and hide-under-your-desk-and-kiss-your-arse-goodbye-drills back when the Cold War was sub-zero and Kennedy was contemplating Cuba... with a jaundiced eye.

We had school "fire-drill" practices to walk briskly but orderly to the WW2 underground bunker - not that if Liverpool had been nuked it would have saved us.

Daddy's pragmatic Point of View...
on bombs and shelters was...
''Why on Earth bother...
I wouldn't want to be here for the aftermath anyway...
He did have a point.

fine poem my friend; unfortunately the only lesson that really seemed to be learned from the savagery of WW1is that war can be profitable if you play it right....a discovery that we the people have been suffering for ever sense..and don't expect it to change so long as there remains money to be made

Thanks for commenting, Vandel. "Follow the money" usually tells most of the story. WW1 produced a new breed of multi-millionaires (even 100 years ago, was even more a lot of money back then) - and like you suggest, it set a new global industry in motion. Tragic.
